Dimension Data becomes Global Systems Integrator Partner for Citrix

Convergence Partners’ investee company, Dimension Data, the $4.7 billion global ICT services and solutions provider, has become a Global Systems Integrator Partner for Citrix. The programme places Dimension Data at the highest partnering level in the 49 countries on five continents that it has a direct presence.

Seacom invests R100m in local infrastructure

Seacom, a Convergence Partners investee company, has invested R100 million in additional South African infrastructure to meet the continuous high growth in demand for broadband services and applications. The investment includes the purchase of physical optical fibre links from Dark Fibre Africa (DFA) as well as installing the equipment required for Seacom to manage the network linking KwaZulu Natal’s coast where the Seacom marine cable lands to two redundant Points of Presence (PoPs) in Gauteng.

Convergence Partners devotes 67 minutes to Mandela Day

For our 67 minutes of giving on Mandela Day, the Convergence Partners team visited the children’s ward at Rahima Moosa Hospital in Coronationville. Matron Steyn and Matron Thomas where kind enough to show us around and give us a background of the hospital and what they specialise in and the team took along toys, books, and lego for the children to play with. The kids were excited and overwhelmed by the gifts and attention. A brightness filled the room as the children warmed up to us and spoke to us, showed us the pictures they were colouring in and joined us in building lego.

Dimension Data scoops prestigious global award

Dimension Data, has been named Global Partner of the Year 2011 by security giant McAfee. The global award follows the announcement made in March that McAfee had signed its first Global Solution Provider Agreement with Dimension Data.

This latest award underscores our long-standing collaboration history, particularly around global and multinational opportunities. Internet Solutions acquires majority stake in Synaq

Convergence Partner’s investee company, Internet Solutions (IS) has acquired a majority stake in locally managed Linux service provider Synaq, for an undisclosed sum.
IS executive for communication services Wayne Speechly says the acquisition boosts the ability of IS to tackle the growing need for managed communication services in the small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) market, through the delivery of robust hosted Linux and open-source technologies. Synaq, on the other hand, will benefit from access to IS’s infrastructure and gain a strong base of support for African and international expansion.

Dimension Data acquires OpSource

Dimension Data, the 74.9% holding company of Convergence Partners investee company Dimension Data Middle East and Africa (DDMEA), announced that it has acquired OpSource, an enterprise cloud company, in a deal that will see Dimension Data (itself a wholly owned subsidiary of NTT Holdings) accelerate its cloud computing services offerings. At the same time, Dimension Data, a US $4.7 billion ICT services and solutions provider has created a centralised Cloud Solutions Business Unit which will report directly into Dimension Data’s CEO, Brett Dawson. OpSource will become part of the Dimension Data Cloud Solutions Business Unit.
