Epsilon and SEACOM Interconnect to increase global access to Africa

Convergence Partners’ investee, SEACOM, has signed an interconnection agreement with Epsilon Telecommunications. With SEACOM preconnected, Epsilon can offer its customers network connectivity to Africa via the SEACOM network as well as carrying African telecommunications traffic globally. Customers of SEACOM in turn have access to Epsilon’s 450+ preconnected network operators around the world.

Dimension Data awarded innovative health technology project

Dimension Data, a Convergence Partners’ investee, was awarded the responsibility of running a sophisticated data-capturing technology to improve ambulance response times in the Western Cape for the next four years. The project initiated by the Western Cape Government is scheduled to be operational by November of 2013.

Investment opportunities for fellow Brics nations in infrastructure development and industrialisation in South Africa were valued at over R33-billion, or $3.5-billion, National Empowerment Fund (NEF) CEO Philisiwe Mthethwa told delegates on the opening day of the fifth yearly Brics Summit. Referring to the telecommunication sector, she said “the IDC had transactions under consideration worth $5.7-billion, which included FibreCo, a joint venture between Cell C, Convergence Partners and Dimension Data, and which was rolling out a long-haul open-access fibre-optic network”.

After attending 90 Saturday classes over the past two years, 42 students have graduated from the Dimension Data Saturday School programme. Convergence Partners has been one of the partners to Dimension Data for this programme. Mpho Sesinyi emerged as the overall top performer in all subjects at the Dimension Data Saturday School Class of 2012 graduation ceremony on Friday 7 December 2012.
