Dimension Data’s e-learning system increases reach to 71 schools

Dimension Data’s E-learning Management System has increased from 52 schools in eight provinces in 2012 to over 71 schools in all nine provinces in 2013. The aim of the initiative is to give students access to premium technology applications to support the school curriculum for Grades 10, 11 and 12 and is designed to dramatically improve the quality and depth of secondary education output.

The project initiated by the Western Cape Government is scheduled to be operational by November of 2013.

Investment opportunities for fellow Brics nations in infrastructure development and industrialisation in South Africa were valued at over R33-billion, or $3.5-billion, National Empowerment Fund (NEF) CEO Philisiwe Mthethwa told delegates on the opening day of the fifth yearly Brics Summit. Referring to the telecommunication sector, she said “the IDC had transactions under consideration worth $5.7-billion, which included FibreCo, a joint venture between Cell C, Convergence Partners and Dimension Data, and which was rolling out a long-haul open-access fibre-optic network”.

Dimension Data announced that it has scooped two awards from Avaya, including Partner of the Year 2012. The accolades were presented to Dimension Data at Avaya’s annual PartnerConnect Conference held in Johannesburg last week. Dimension Data was awarded Avaya Partner of the Year 2012 for the Middle East, Africa and Turkey region, as well as Avaya Network Implementation of the Year 2012 for work carried out on the Wits University campus.

After attending 90 Saturday classes over the past two years, 42 students have graduated from the Dimension Data Saturday School programme.
