The Seacom cable network, which was damaged last month, has been fully repaired and all circuits have been restored. The subsea cable was cut in the Mediterranean Sea in March, along with other cable systems. It is suspected the break was caused by a ship dragging its anchor.

East African traffic gets re-routed over Seacom as both Teams and Eassy suffer cable breaks
February 29th, 2012 | adminEast African internet users experienced reduced speeds on Tuesday, 28th February after ships’ anchors severed the two undersea fiber optic cables off the coast. The companies involved on Tuesday said repairs could take up to two weeks.
The cables operated by Teams, a company partly owned by the Kenyan government, were cut on Saturday near the Kenyan port of Mombasa by a ship’s anchor. Eleven days earlier, another ship dragging its anchor cut the cables of Eassy, a consortium of telecommunications companies.

Dimension Data wins COP 17 contract
November 18th, 2011 | adminInformation technology (IT) services provider Dimension Data, a Convergence Partners investee, has been awarded the contract to supply all IT services for the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change seventeenth Conference of the Parties (COP 17) event.
The contract entails the supply of network, audio, visual, wireless and Internet connectivity across the Durban venue.
