Chairman and Founding Partner
Andile is the controlling shareholder and non-executive chair of Convergence Partners. He was previously the Director General of the Department of Communications (DoC) for 8 and a half years up until the end of 2003 when he announced his intention to leave Government for the private sector. During his time in Government, Andile oversaw tremendous change in the South African technology and telecommunications landscape, both from the point of view of the diverse and advancing technologies on offer as well as advancements in the overarching regulatory framework.
Chief Executive Officer & Founding Partner
Brandon has run Convergence Partners since inception and was one of the founding partners. Prior to that he spent 5 years with Nedbank where he was head of Investment Banking and an Executive Committee member at Nedbank Capital where his areas of responsibility included Nedbank’s M&A, private equity and deal origination activities. Prior to joining Nedbank, Brandon was head of Corporate Finance and Project Equity Finance at FBC Fidelity (an empowered small cap bank) for 3 years where he was involved in a number of milestone BEE transactions. Prior to FBC Fidelity, Brandon spent 5 years in the Corporate Finance team of Anglo American.
Brandon serves on the boards of directors of a number of companies in the Convergence Partners portfolio as well as on numerous board sub-committees focusing particularly on strategy and finance issues. Brandon also serves on the board of the FTTH Council Africa.
Chief Financial Officer and Founding Partner
Stefan has been with Convergence Partners since inception and was one of the founding partners. Stefan has executive responsibility for deal sourcing, implementation and post-investment management and serves on the Convergence Partners Investment Committee and the boards of many investee companies. In addition he oversees the company’s financial management and middle office functions.
Prior to the formation of Convergence Partners, Stefan spend 5 years as a Senior Manager of Nedbank Capital Corporate Finance team. He was also previously employed at Brait and before that in PWC’s Johannesburg, Nairobi and London offices.
Chief Investment Officer and Founding Partner
Idan has been with Convergence Partners since inception and was one of the founding partners. In addition to executive responsibility for deal sourcing, implementation and post-investment, Idan is responsible for portfolio management, capital raising and investor relations.
Idan serves on the Convergence Partners Investment Committee and on the boards of certain of its investee companies. Prior to the formation of Convergence Partners, Idan was a member of the Nedbank Capital Corporate Finance team for 4 years, during which time he advised on many M&A transactions and capital raisings, as well as several high profile BEE transactions.
Chief Strategy Officer
Envir oversees the research, regulatory, policy and strategic business development function. Envir serves on the Boards of certain of its investee companies.
Prior to joining Convergence Partners, Envir was the research development and funding manager of the Meraka Institute, a national institution aimed at improving the competitiveness of the South African information and communications technology sector through skills development, research and innovation, in addition to supporting the national priorities of using ICT for social and economic development.
Chief Operating Officer
Craig is responsible for all operational aspects of Convergence Partners with a particular focus on governance and risk issues within both Convergence Partners, and its investee companies. Prior to joining Convergence Partners, Craig spent two years as the Chief Operating Officer of Phatisa Group (a niche Private Equity manager on the African continent).
Craig has considerable expertise, and two decades of experience, in treasury, risk and capital management predominately in the banking and financial services sector. Craig has worked for regulatory and financial institutions in the United Kingdom including the Financial Services Authority, UBS and Barclays Capital. In South Africa, Craig was employed at Investec Bank as a risk officer in its private bank and then ultimately as head of operations for the currency and derivatives trading division.
Craig left Investec to co-found Integer, a bank replication model focused on mortgage lending and mobile electronic transacting. After Integer’s sale to Investec and Purple Capital, he joined Super Group as head of Strategic Capital and Risk where he was involved in their re-capitalisation.
Craig is responsible for Convergence Partners wireless investments across the continent and new project development.
Prior to joining Convergence Partners, Craig was Chief Financial Officer of Seacom. As one of the inaugural members of the executive management team, Craig was instrumental in the start-up and development of the company, including establishing the regional set-up of the organisation across 7 countries. Prior to joining Seacom, Craig worked for Nedbank’s Africa Division, focusing on expansion strategies across the African continent.
Head: Public Relations and Communications
Portia oversees the planning, development and implementation of PR strategies at Convergence Partners. She is also responsible for maintaining and updating information on the organisation’s website, organising events including press conferences, exhibitions and CSI projects.
Prior to joining Convergence Partners, Portia worked for UBS AG Private Banking, J P Morgan Legal and Investment Banking Departments and Brait Corporate Finance.
Teni is responsible for Convergence Partners’ research outputs. This entails ICT sector and policy research, as well as macroeconomic and market analysis.
Before joining Convergence Partners, Teni worked for Brait Specialised Funds as an Economic Analyst. He studied for a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Politics, Philosophy and Economics at University of Cape Town.
Financial and Management Accountant
Mark completed his studies at the University of the Free State. Subsequently he completed his articles at PricewaterhouseCoopers in Johannesburg and is a qualified chartered accountant.
Lindokhuhle oversees all of Convergence Partners’ financial management and middle office activities. Prior to joining Convergence Partners, having completed her articles at Deloitte & Touch, she was the Audit Manager involved with design, conduct and other assurance engagements of more than nine people. Lindokuhle completed her studies at WITS and the University of Kwazulu Natal and is a qualified chartered accountant.
Sihle is responsible for Convergence Partners wireless investments across the continent and new project development.
Prior to joining Convergence Partners, Sihle worked at Investec Corporate Finance for four years where she was involved in a number of M&A transactions, capital raisings and BEE transactions.
Zandile assist the Financial Manager in administering the Finances of Convergence Partners.
On completion of her qualification, Zandile worked for an accounting firm for two years then later moved to a BEE construction firm as a junior accountant, until she joined Convergence Partners in 2009 as a member of the middle office team.
Lindiswa provides administrative and staff support to the general operations of Convergence Partners. Before joining Convergence Partners, Lindiswa worked for Eskom and Blue Chillie Promotions.
